The School is run by two Principals, Saira Keevill-Thomas and Christian Taylor. Both of us are passionately committed to producing confident and capable working homeopaths. We believe that a good, solid understanding of the principles and mechanics of homeopathy will support a homeopath's working life and development. We feel that everyone should gain the maximum enjoyment possible, in an informal atmosphere of warmth and friendship.
The aim of our homoeopathy school is to train our students to become competent, capable and professional working homeopaths. And as each homoeopathic prescription is patient-centered, we pride ourselves on a training that is person-centered, with every student encouraged to find their own way of studying and gaining practical skills. Course recognition
Our course is fully recognised by the Society of Homeopaths, the professional organisation for the majority of homeopaths in this country, which means that upon qualification you will be licenced to practise immediately and be on the most direct track for full registration. |
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM TEACHING
The course is streamlined according to HE level guidelines to provide a thorough and progressive learning experience through different teaching methods, graded work modules and a wide range of lectures. In addition, there are monthly homework requirements. Together with the academic study, there is an emphasis on practical clinical experience. The classes are small and informal, with plenty of time available for debate, discussion and individual attention. Many students feel worried about their level of academic ability. We are aware that different people learn and express themselves in different ways and we will help you come up with the approaches that work best for you. Homework can usually be answered in a variety of formats and you will have plenty of support from your tutors. We make sure that everyone is looked after in a kind yet professional manner. With the South Downs School, your four years with us will be both a journey and an adventure, as we encourage you to find your true potential.

Course recognition
"The Society’s Education Department operates a transparent, rigorous and comprehensive course recognition process with the support of independent reviewers and panel members. Working with courses preparing students to become independent primary practitioners of homeopathy, we believe that quality assurance is a crucial way for a profession to demonstrate its capacity for effective self regulation and to increase its public accountability. We favour a supportive and developmental approach, valuing ongoing consultation with course providers, teachers and students, as well as homeopaths and the public. The courses currently on our list substantially meet the criteria of the Society’s course recognition system. This includes scrutiny and evaluation through documentation and observation of teaching in the classroom, the clinic and online. We also engage in discussion with the course team and students, and look for evidence of external examiner reports and students’ assessed work. Homeopaths qualifying from Society recognised courses will be knowledgeable, competent, reflective and safe, and are automatically eligible to join the Society’s Register of Homeopaths, the first to become accredited by the Professional Standards Authority" |
